I survived 9 bullets. Returning back from hospital in 2015 after spending 1 year in the Rehabilitation Center, wheelchair dependent, and adapting to the new monster "DISABILITY", some of my family and friends turned their backs on me..
It was not an easy journey, but it became easier. You want to know why? Because I came out of Rehabilitation Center with "HOPE". Hope, kept me going and helped me to be stronger day by day.
Me and my family, we have come a long way. We have walked a long distance, trailing scorpions, snakes, and thorns as a family. We collectively took a vow to groom, mentor and empower young girls, and women through our NPO because now we know what "Gender-based Violence" is. We took a vow to groom and empower a boy child that "It is okay not to be okay""It is okay to cry out loud if they feel like crying""It is okay to be afraid"
We are changemakers, dreamers, community builders, and doers who believe in local, believe in people, empowerment of people living with disabilities, women, youth, community development, gender equality, diversity believe in creating value for generations to come.
WHAT MOTIVATES ME EVERY DAY?
Is waking up and looking at this wheelchair" and realizing that I have to be on this chair to move around, is me waking up with a lot of pain, this is when I realize that being in this chair comes with a lot of expenses, heartbreaks, and challenges. When I think that I can give hope to a lot of people, men, women, and kids living with a disability that: "IS POSSIBLE NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF DISABILITY YOU HAVE".
"I AM A PROUD GBV SURVIVOR" and I am using my survival story to change the world". I am a beautiful "Tetraplegic". I am a "BEAUTIFUL SURVIVOR". I am wheeling with "Pride".

Now that sounds amazing and all, but my journey to where I am now was not an easy one. Looking back now, I am super grateful for all the obstacles and roadblocks that were put on my path, as it is now the driving factor in everything I do...
I was working as a traffic officer, in 2014 my then-boyfriend shot me 9 times and committed suicide. My life changed from being abled-bodied to living with disabilities and wheelchair dependant.
Most of my friends distanced themselves from me and I was left with my very supportive, caring, overprotective family and my phone. I then started spending a lot of time online. My business mind came back, I applied for accelerator programs online not even understanding what they are all about...
Normally I am a shy person my injuries also affected my speech. I failed more than 5 accelerator program interviews and always blamed my speech and gave up on applying. Until 2021 when I went to the business field and applied again. I got accepted into 2 accelerator programs and 1 business school...
I am strong and resilient and this brought me back to my days of being a traffic officer. I wanted to be strong, capable, and confident and be a voice and an example for other women. Since I took that decision, everything is a "YES" for me I don't even care about my speech anymore.
